Echoes of the Drum

Recovery Society

An Indigenous Organization Dedicated to Improving the Lives of People Affected by Addictions

Echoes of the Drum Recovery Society

Echoes of the Drum is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities on their journey to healing and recovery. Grounded in compassion and cultural understanding, we focus on addressing the challenges of grief, loss, addiction, and trauma, with a special commitment to serving Indigenous youth and families.

Through a two-eyed approach, we provide enhanced supportive housing for individuals in recovery, outpatient support for youth and their families suffering from grief from toxic drug overdose crisis, and empower our members through advocacy to add their voices to the growing call to action and reduce stigma and stereotypes. Our programs provide personalized care, including access to counselling, coaching, and connections to trusted medical professionals. We integrate traditional Indigenous teachings and practices to foster resilience, identity, and community connection. From supported living services at Walden House to culturally centered grief support and recovery reintegration, we empower individuals to rebuild their lives in a safe, stable, and holistic environment.

We advocate tirelessly for those we serve, helping them navigate obstacles, secure funding, and access critical resources. Our initiatives include support groups, cultural workshops, educational outreach, and community events, all designed to foster healing, understanding, and belonging.

At Echoes of the Drum, we believe in the strength of community and the power of culture to transform lives. Together, we work to create a future of hope, connection, and recovery.

Echoes of Change

Advocating for Awareness and Action

With Echoes of Change, we are committed to addressing the toxic drug crisis and reducing overdose deaths through public awareness and education. Misconceptions about addiction and harm reduction strategies perpetuate stigma and hinder effective solutions. By fostering understanding, we aim to drive meaningful change.

Our Perspective

Addiction does not discriminate—it can affect anyone, regardless of social class, ethnicity, or background. It could impact your loved ones, neighbors, friends, or colleagues.

Experts have long advocated for evidence-based social policies to combat overdose rates. However, political action often follows public demand. Raising public awareness is key to reshaping perceptions and driving policy changes that save lives.

Our Approach

To shine a light on this pressing health crisis, Echoes of Change focuses on:

  • Community Education

    • Hosting educational seminars to provide accurate information and reduce stigma.

  • Engaging Public Events

    • Organizing local events and rallies to amplify our message.

  • Social Media Advocacy

    • Running active campaigns to reach diverse audiences and challenge misconceptions.

  • Collaborative Partnerships

    • Partnering with like-minded organizations to amplify our collective impact.

  • Storytelling Platforms

    • Producing regular podcasts to share personal stories, highlight expert insights, and dispel myths about addiction and harm reduction.

Our Mission

By combining education, advocacy, and collaboration, Echoes of Change seeks to empower communities, influence public opinion, and drive the policy shifts necessary to combat the toxic drug crisis effectively. Together, we can build a future where understanding and compassion pave the way for progress.
